Alan Drew 1951 - 2008: A tribute
It is with deep regret that many of our members will have learnt of Alan's passing.
The WYBCS pays tribute with the following obituary, "Our thanks to Alan Drew".
University of Leeds celebrates fifty years of computing
In 1957 the University of Leeds was one of the first
universities in the UK to buy a computer. The jubilee is being
celebrated by a series of events with more details available on
the Leeds University Jubilee
(offsite link) website.
BCS Jubilee Celebrations
The West Yorkshire Branch is also celebrating its Golden Jubilee
this year. We organised a Gala Celebration Dinner in Leeds
City Centre on September 7th. The cost of the Dinner was been
partially funded by the HQ Jubilee Fund as we thought it would
be a novel idea to use 1957 prices for the dinner.
