Network Computer Forensics
Speaker: Russell May BSc(Hons) CITP CEng MBCS EnCE,
Manager of Special and Partner Projects (Europe, Middle East, Africa, India, Russia),
Guidance Software Inc.
Russell May will be making a return visit to the West Yorkshire Branch to give a follow-up to the Computer Forensics presentation that we had in January this year. The first presentation was a discussion and demonstration of forensic analysis techniques on individual machines. This time Russell will consider forensics on networks of computers, and look at techniques that can be used when machines have to be examined while they are still connected to the network.
We anticipate that, as with the January event, there will be a demonstration of forensic data recovery techniques on networked computers, giving an insight into methods used to discover obfuscated or hidden data and retrieve that data.
The previous event on Computer Forensics was very popular, and we expect strong interest in this event, so if you wish to attend please register your interest in good time!
Russell May retired from the West Midlands Police in April 2002 as head of the Hi-tech Crime Unit which he set up in 1997. Russell has presented evidence, found by forensic analysis of computer storage media, relating to offences ranging from simple theft to international terrorism.
If you are planning to attend, it would be helpful if
